The Cup of LIfe
I roughly sketched the idea out for this a week or so ago and made the acrylic, tissue and glimmer mist background this morning. Seeing the paper waiting on the desk this evening I got hooked into putting it together even tho' I'd meant to do a dozen or so other things first. I'm considering giving her a border - maybe a hangy, leafy border to finish her off a bit more thoroughly but I'm not sure if she needs it. I have found the perfect frame for her. She's not an atc this time but is about 7"x5". It doesn't show very well in the photo but the background is a mixture of rose pink and grey. What do you think - border or no border?

No border, I think. Lovely blog :)
ReplyDeleteSTUNNING, Penny! No border, I think it would take away for the centre, which is absolutely fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteLets see the proposed frame and then I can assess it. Perhaps embellish the frame?

I don't know enough to advise on a border, but I think this is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHonestly? I love it as it is but...I would frame it a bit...even if you don't use a border so to speak you could swipe an ink pad around the edges to close it all together...that is sometimes what I do if I am not sure...then you haven't stamped it and can't change it...IYKWIM...hope this helps...BTW..I love the fact that it is so big too! x
ReplyDeleteNo border please!
ReplyDeleteShe is perfect!!
I vote for no border, the stunning simplicity is gorgeous...she is perfect...I love her!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and your kind comment! Your work is beautiful!
hello from northern California, USA!
ReplyDeletelove your work. definitely NO BORDER
I will visit you again soon.
If you are going to frame it, I don't think it would need a border? It's lovely as it is.
ReplyDeletelots of reaction ! A small border or frame. It's great !
ReplyDeleteI am thinking a border..sort of a gothic flourishy type one..mind you I want to put this type of border on everything since watching the Alice film..You put what you think is best as its your art not ours..like the face and crowns
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your lovely, helpful thoughts on the border. I've put her in her frame and she looks quite finished as she is now, but I'm toying with adding some inky edging as Hels suggested as that'd be quite subtle. I can't post the framed piece as it won't scan and I can't get a photo of it at all! Appreciate your opinions, each and every one x
ReplyDeleteAnother work of stunning art ! cant wait to see what you create with your muslin lol xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the subdued colour palette. I agree a border would be too much but inky edges would look cool.
ReplyDeleteFabulous art Pen! Depends on the border, but I think it's great as it is! x
ReplyDeleteI like the plain white edging which seems to have a shadowy effect and this gives the whole picture an extra dimension. I love your card. Great artwork.
ReplyDeleteLove this its fab
ReplyDeleteGorgeous artwork. Love what you have done.
