Does What We Make Reflect Who We Are?

Having an early morning ponder on the nature of creating. Visiting some of the fabulous blogs I follow earlier, I was struck by how different all our work is, how very, very individual. Coincidentally, the blogs I looked at this morning were particularly calm, therapeutic places to visit and the work displayed on them was the same - very pale colours, very serene and very delightful. I wondered if the artists are like that themselves. Do our blogs reflect who we are to that degree? Thinking about it, I have to say, Yes, most probably, they do. My blog is definitely a reflection of how my life is - chaotic, disorganized and, doesn't always hang together very well (if at all)! My work is very cluttered - don't do less is more very often and, that's just how my life feels.... too much to do and not enough time to do it in. I'd so love to be like these other bloggers and have my work produce an air of calm. I'd also like to try finishing what I start, working on one thing at a time and keeping my workspace clear - but years of wishing have taught me one thing - there exists a nil to fat chance of any of it ever happening. A girl can dream tho. Back to the chaos!

  2. Well I have two Blogs ! I like to keep them fairly plain & easy to read. THH Blog is chatty - like me ! but I used to be quiet & shy - overcame that years ago & now can't stop talking.

I will also change the subject frequently in a conversation whch I imagine is why my posts are all haphazzard - what ever comes into my head ! I'll think " Oh that would make a good post" & scribble down an idea.

As for the art on TLS Blog- I'm finding my feet. I'm enjoying what I'm doing this week & it'll be up on the blog soon.

I never think any of it is any good & Im astounded at the lovely comments. I'd love to go on some courses. I don't have a workspace - just use the kitchen table which means clearing everything away for meals but hoping to make a space in the study.

I'm inspired by many of the artists I've seen through blogging - in particular

Love stitching red, Alice and Camilla, Hensteeth, An artists legacy & Magpies nest

( all in my blogroll list )

I'm sorry I don't pop by to visit you more often. I simply seem to run out of hours in the day. Love this post very much though. Your artwork has such wonderful energy as you seem to!! I think art really does reflect who we are. Talk to you soon!
