VINTAGE ALPHABET

A while ago now, in the first flush of my passion for ATCs, my friend Brenda and I undertook an ATC swap of a Vintage Alphabet. This was my letter 'M' for Motherhood. It was one of my favourites as I like the way the collaged paper background turned out. I like things to look as tho they've been kicking around in someone's attic for years and I think this has that tattered quality. I love to make my own backgrounds and this is a method I often use - collaging various inked and pre-bought papers and then randomly re-inking them when they have been torn and stuck down. I love the rough, uneven texture it produces, but it can be a nightmare to stamp on because of all the lumps and bumps. I particularly enjoy looking at an A4 sheet made in this way and seeing immediately the tiny portion that I want to use for a particular project. It's like striking gold for me.
