ALL THE YOUNG DUDES ...
This was a late-night happy accident! I'd already stamped the men ages ago and last night they appeared again. I suddenly had the urge to stamp the spirals along the top and I think it worked ... despite the incongruence between the young soldiers dressed in uniform and the kind of party atmosphere the swirls and colours suggest. Nothing fancy, nothing clever but, to me, it seems to work! It appeals to my twisted sense of the absurd ....
It looks like political buntings to me and it seems to fit.

That's what I love - thinking through what lies behind the art. Why could there be swirls over soldiers - as Kim above says, political bunting. Or could be a welcome home party, or 'about to leave for war' reception. Or are they just happy to be a band of brothers. Love it.
