THELMA & LOUISE TAKE THE SCENIC ROUTE ....

This atc was great fun to make. I made something similar a long while back but I've tried to improve on the original. I used a sheet of paper from an A-Z (no - it wasn't old, just hope I never have to visit this part of the world!) as the background. I love maps of any description. The two women stamp is from a fashion plate that I've had since time began. The car stamp came in a Club Stamp kit - I remember being less than impressed with that months theme, but, I've used it more times than I can count! I think the 'Scenic Route' wording also came in that kit. I then painted both images using Adirondack inks in Citrus, Sunshine Yellow and Stonewashed. I don't usually paint anything - colours get smooshed about instead - but I have discovered I LOVE to paint - well, to colour in using paint! Such fun, transported me right back to being a child with my colouring books. I also coloured the chrome on the car with silver metallic pen - does anybody get more than one use out of them?! I seem to get in such a mess with them.
Thinking about wrecking over my A-Z, I remember once rushing to my wardrobe and cutting the buttons off a perfectly good shirt because they were exactly what I needed for the piece I was making. Have you ever recycled anything before it's time was up, in the name of your art?

  1. Great feel to this ATC - very much 'Road Trip'. The colours are lovely. Can't think of anything I've used for my art before it was ready, though many many things get ruined because I drip, smear and dribble paint, varnish and glue down decent clothes. I walk past my desk, think "I'll just do that bit" and, oh no, that top is a gonna. I know I should get changed before I go within a 5 mile radius of my art stuff, but so often don't.

  2. You do make me giggle Jo. I am just the same myself. I think its the 'walking past our desks' that is the problem - we should have designated stuidos at the bottom of the garden! Of course we should x

  3. This is fantastic Penny! I love the soft colors, you got it perfect! And you have some terrific stamps!!
I can't tell you how many times I have taken things apart to use in my art, and there is not a day that goes by that I don't make a mess of some sort!

  4. Thanks Sharon. Mess is good but I only think that applies in my art room. When the rest of the house is chaotic it upsets my equilibrium - so thats most of the time then! tee hee x

  9. I recently did something a little bit the opposite of your button story. I'd been using an old white v neck t shirt to put under some things I was painting and yesterday I ironed the shirt and wore it! It looks so pretty with all the colors running every which way.

  10. Ha Joni, I love your story! I so often like the scrap paper I've been stamping onto more than the stamping I've been doing and to be able to wear it would be just brilliant. You are obviously a very creative soul, in good company with all of the above artists x
