Totally Dumb Mum ....

Have you ever done something totally DUMB? I just did. 24 hours before my gorgeous, good-natured smiley son has his 14th Birthday BBQ I INSISTED that I shave his hair. He resisted, but I persisted and I won. Mal usually does it and he doesn't have a problem with it. So, what did I go and do? I FORGOT to put the guard over the blade and I shaved a GREAT BIG TOTALLY BALD PATCH above his left ear to the top of his crown. We are now busily searching the house for a beanie hat. My timing has always been spot on. I am in the doghouse for wayward and untrustworthy mothers. I'm going to have to stick another layer on the cake to claw my way back from this one!

  1. I'm sorry but this made me laugh! You'll look back on this in years to come and laugh too, honestly! So will your poor mutilated son. You do realise you're going to have to pay for years of therapy for him to get over this, don't you? Happy birthday to him for tomorrow. xx ps might be better to shave off all the rest???

  4. Jo, the boy's had all the therapy he can take! My profession used to be counsellor .... poor kid, we're sick of the sight of both our navels!!! Your emailed idea about pva glue and floor clippings is my favoured way out...not sure its Rowan's tho!!! x

  6. oooh er! I know the feeling as I once did that to DH when the guard flew off by accident. He was teaching at the time and when he went into school he told all the boys who commented that he'd had a special chip inserted into his brain and they believed and thought he was wonderful and bionic!! Tell your son to try it out!

  9. Oh, my! Very funny to read about, not so funny to live through, I'm sure. Time heals all and a hat covers a multitude of sins. Thanks for the giggle ;)

  11. Oh My! - I gave my son a bowl cut many years a go and I think he still holds it against me! Despite knowing what you are going through - I did smile at this and I'm sure all will be forgiven soon and someday you will be closer at the funny memory of this. Thanks for dropping by my blog and your kind comment!
