VERY SUPERSTITIOUS .... LADDER'S BOUT TO FALL ....

I have an admission ... I am one of the most superstitious people I know - apart, of course, from my heavily indoctrinated children. This request is a little strange, but honestly, I really can't bear it when I have '13' comments on any post so, (and I hope you don't mind me asking), should you be looking at my blog, thinking of commenting and notice that there are 13 comments there .... please do comment! Then I'll be able to stop touching my head and whistling. Irrational behaviour? Undoubtedly. I can only chuckle to myself as I'm typing this lightweight lunacy!
What superstitions, if any, do you have? I'd love to know if you're willing to share...

  1. Oh Penny...we all have our quirks! I say so what, as long as we are good and caring people! I can't spill salt without throwing it over my shoulder! If I see you have 13, I will try to help! Hugs!!

  4. I always have to say eye-eye captain when I see a single Magpie - said 9 year old joins in but hasn't got a clue why, I won't walk under a ladder, I love it when I see a black cat walk across my path and woo betide anyone who puts new shoes on my table! Yes superstitious to the max - that's me - so don't stress if I ever see 13 I'll make it 14 even if I've already commented - I've always regarded 13 as lucky - i was born on a 13th! L

Hope you're having a fab morning!

  5. I was going to comment on the Thelma and Louise ATC, but you already have 12 comments now on that item :), so I'm telling you here, I like the ATC very much, awesome piece of art!!!

  6. Oh V! I'm glad I'm not alone. I have to have the whole 'Good Morning Your Majesty, How's Your Wife & Children?' conversation when seeing a single Magpie! I have two black cats so I'm constantly being tripped up by them - how lucky is that! Shoes on the table ..... aaaaargh! Thats a hanging offence in my house. I know its ridiculous to dislike the number thirteen, and I'm sure, if I'd been born on 13th like you, I'd view it very differently. No offence intended! x
And Anneke, your comment made me guffaw! x

  7. I used to big time, but I don't do superstition now, as I've broken so many mirrors, walked under so many ladders, etc., etc., and I'm still here, soon to be 66 and my life is filled with luck and love. I just use the bits of mirrors for crafting LOL! Some things I might do out of lifelong habit, but my head tell's me it's just that. However, whatever makes you feel good..... just do it!! as superstitions make up some of the world's most interesting traditions but most of all it makes YOU who and what you are, SPECIAL!.
    Good luck!!!
    Jo x

  8. Bless you Jo. You have a very good point! So much superstition is about avoiding bad things happening ... its hardly taking the positive approach is it?! I laughed hard at your point about broken mirror bits. I guess life is like that too ... you can view it one way, or tilt your head slightly, and it becomes something else entirely! upwards and onwards x

  9. That's funny--but what if I'm the 13'th commenter? ;)

  10. That Diane is a very good question! I'd hate people not to comment and everything to stop at 12 (I should be so lucky!). I think I've come up with the solution .... if there are 13 comments - I'll make the 14th myself and thus, eradicating any need for all of the above ... but hey, I wouldn't have missed hearing about others foibles for the world! It sure takes me a while to get there these days xxx

  11. Isn't it funny the superstitions we have, same reason I wont hurt a spider. I'm terrified the rest of the spider community would either charge at my house or boycott it completely and then I would be over run with flies *shudder* Irrational? Yep. Do I still carefully carry spiders out to garden, a quivering wreck as I'm doing so? Yep! :P

  12. this is comment 12.... so I better make it count!
I don't have any sort of superstition about the number 13, but if you've ever read my symbolic gift posts or read my creation descriptions on etsy, you'll know that I am absolutely passionate about symbolism and traditional lore, so I get ya!

I believe that everything has an energy, and everything represents something, and we can definitely harness that energy for good purposes.

My hope for you would be to find the joy in traditional lore and live in peace, its easier on your nerves I promise!
Wishing you joy and serenity, xoxox
