This is the picture I drew for Mal for Xmas. Carmen asked if I could post it bigger. I'm afraid there's a bit of reflection showing - it was so hard to photograph! But, I hope this gives a better idea of the end result. Honestly, I couldn't draw a stick man before Jo spent endless hours encouraging me. She was a marvellous teacher. It was a miracle we got anything finished as we drank vast quantities of wine during lessons! Oh, I forgot to say, it's not pink .... it is most definitely black!
Wow, Penny, this is really good! If you couldn't draw a stick man, then you had one fantastic teacher, not to mention the hours of practice you must have put in to get this good!
ReplyDeleteThis is jaw dropping! Wow and wow again! I keep going back up to look at it. So much detail -it's incredible Penny! I hope you are still drawing?
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting it bigger :)
Thank you both for your lovely comments. To be honest Carmen, since I drew this, I haven't picked up a pencil. Keep thinking I should get back into it but now I want to paint!!! Can't tell you what a thrill it was seeing it framed for the first time. My teacher was amazingly patient and generous with her time. I think we did an intensive - drawing together several evenings a week for months on end. Her work is stunning.
ReplyDeleteI'm speachless, very beautiful Penny!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others, this is absolutely stunning Penny - such talent! I would LOVE to be able to draw like this :) You should so more. And post them too.
ReplyDeleteThank you! My early attempts are on a post called 'A New String To My Bow' way, way back on 3rd September 2009 before I had any followers or blogland friends to show them to! I would recreate the post now, but I don't know how. I'd love to know what you think if you do go take a look back in the archives! x
ReplyDeleteThis is stunningly good, Penny. It looks like a photograph, it's so detailed. And is it you posing....?! x
ReplyDeleteWow indeed! That is fabulous Penny.

Hi Penny-great drawing!! Your shading is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWOW ...the folds of the clothes ... and the lacing at the front looks more like a photo it is so accurate ..love this ...wish I could draw.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful, Penny, and the perspective and shading is done so well!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing Penny, & even better IRL! x
ReplyDeleteVery, very impressive Penny. I used to be able to draw extremely lifelike plants and pretty good styalised fashion drawings but something like this - no way!!! It's fabulous and all credit to your teacher's patience and your own tenacity.

I went and had a peep Penny. Again - just gorgeous. I think if you want to repost that particular post just go into edit posts, click on that one and in the bit that says post options at the bottom just change the date and time ;)
